To make quality Quran and Islamic education accessible to every Muslim family — removing the barriers of geography, cost and availability so that every child can learn their deen with the care, confidence and love they deserve.
Our story
Online Quran Tuition was founded in 2012 by Imam Haseeb Mahmood, driven by a concern he saw clearly all around him: Muslim children in the UK were not getting the quality Islamic and Quranic education they needed and deserved.
Mosque classes, where they existed, were often overcrowded, inconsistent, or simply too difficult for working families to access regularly. Private tutors were expensive and unreliable. The children who most needed grounding in their faith — growing up in a secular environment, navigating school, friendships and identity — were being let down by the options available to their parents.

The answer, Imam Haseeb believed, was to bring the teacher to the child — not the other way around. Using the technology becoming available in 2012, he built a platform that connected qualified Quran teachers with Muslim families across the UK, delivering one-to-one Quran lessons from the student's own home, at times that worked for the family, at a price that was genuinely affordable.
What started as a small, focused effort to serve Muslim families in the UK has grown — Alhamdulillah — into one of the UK's most trusted online Quran academies, with 1,000+ students, 80+ professional tutors, and families learning with us from across the UK and around the world.
The platform has grown to offer not just Quran reading and Tajweed, but Quran memorisation, Islamic studies, Noorani Qaida, Salah, Arabic language and a full Islamic Studies programme for children — all under one roof, at multiple price points, with no long-term contracts.
But through all of that growth, the founding purpose has never changed. Every decision we make — every teacher we accept, every course we build, every family we serve — is guided by the same question Imam Haseeb asked in 2012:
“Are we giving this child the quality Islamic education they deserve?”
If the answer is yes — Alhamdulillah. If not, we find a way to do better.
Meet the Co-Founder
Imam Haseeb Mahmood founded Online Quran Tuition in 2012 out of a deep concern for the Islamic education of Muslim children growing up in the UK. Having seen first-hand the gap between what families needed and what was available — the overcrowded mosque classes, the lack of qualified teachers, the time pressures on working Muslim parents — he was determined to build something better.
With over a decade of experience in Quran teaching and Islamic education, Imam Haseeb built a platform grounded in three non-negotiables: quality of teaching, genuine accessibility, and personal care for every student. Only 1 in 10 teacher applicants are accepted onto the platform — because Imam Haseeb knows that the teacher is everything.
Today, Alhamdulillah, that platform serves 1,000+ students with 80+ professional tutors. But Imam Haseeb's standard has not changed: every child who learns with Online Quran Tuition should leave every lesson knowing a little more of their deen, a little more confident in their faith, and a little closer to Allah SWT. That is the standard. That will always be the standard.

Word-of-mouth among Muslim families drives rapid growth. The platform expands its team of tutors and builds its proprietary Smart Learning Room — the interactive whiteboard and video platform that powers every lesson.

Islamic Studies Launched
The platform launches a full Islamic Studies programme alongside Quran classes — with a ready-made curriculum covering Aqeedah, Fiqh, Hadith, Islamic history and Arabic, uniquely taught through English and mapped to the UK National Curriculum.
